''Coalition forces, including many brave Afghans, have brought America, Afghanistan and the free world its first victory in the war on terror,'' Mr. Bush said. ''Afghanistan is no longer a terrorist factory sending thousands of killers into the world.''
Joining the president in the Rose Garden was an unusual display of his high command. Along with Vice President Cheney were Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld; Secretary of State Colin L. Powell; Condoleezza Rice, the national security adviser; Karen P. Hughes, an adviser to the president; and Laura Bush.
Karzai only controls 1/3 of Afghanistan
Feb 28, 2008
WASHINGTON - More than six years after the U.S. invaded to establish a stable central regime in Afghanistan, the Kabul government under President Hamid Karzai controls just 30 percent of the country, the top U.S. intelligence official said Wednesday.
I sure don't see victory I see a total fucking disaster in Afghanistan. This incompetent Bush administration should have been impeached years ago. Stupid ass George Bush NEOCON regime totally squandered the chance to enter into a beneficial relationship with a Muslim Country by abandoning Afghanistan for his Foolish Crusade in Iraq. So now Afghanistan is ruin. If it once again falls into the hands of Islamic extremists then neighboring Pakistan a Nuclear power will most likely be taken over by the same extremists.
He has been successful in creating an International Drug Pipeline with Heroin flowing endlessly out of Afghanistan. George W. Bush now adds another dubious honor to his already tarnished legacy because through his failed policy of opium crop eradication he is the responsible for the creation of the largest international illicit heroin producing nation in world history.
In a 2002 speech at General George Marshall's alma mater, Virginia Military Institute, our Gimp for a President George W. Bush invoked the Marshall Plan in describing American efforts in re-building post-Taliban Afghanistan and more broadly for securing peace in the aftermath of a more geographically generalized war on terror yet he failed to keep his promise to Afghanistan.
Afghanistan remains ravaged by severe poverty and the spreading starvation of the rural and urban poor. Despite promises from the US-led international community guaranteeing to provide the resources and assistance necessary for its reconstruction and development needs, Afghanistan’s people are starving to death. Afghanistan continues to rank at the bottom of most poverty indicators, and the situation of women and children is particularly grave. One in four children born in Afghanistan cannot expect to live beyond the age of five and certain provinces of the country lay claim to the worst maternal mortality rates ever recorded in the world.
Afghanistan is lost, says Lord Ashdown
Nato has "lost in Afghanistan" and its failure to bring stability there could provoke a regional sectarian war "on a grand scale", according to Lord Ashdown.
Lord Ashdown said: "We have lost, I think, and success is now unlikely."
Lord Ashdown added: "I believe losing in Afghanistan is worse than losing in Iraq. It will mean that Pakistan will fall and it will have serious implications internally for the security of our own countries and will instigate a wider Shiite [Shia], Sunni regional war on a grand scale.
Bush has allowed the situation in Afghanistan to be at its worst since 9/11. Once again, Afghanistan is in the grip of the Taliban , Al Qaeda , the warlords, and a land of opium, arms, and endless warfare. Hell that evil idiot Bush is far more concerned about domestic surveillance than trying to win in Afghanistan. Maybe they don't want to win in Afghanistan I'm sure they are making big money in the Heroin trade and they also want to build a oil pipeline through Afghanistan. Then he and his NEO CON stooges are also in a hurry to impose a fucking fascist police state on us all before his term ends.
